Here's an easy appetizer for all those holiday happy hour parties. These cookies are savory and go great with a glass of wine or cocktail. Cheers!
Cheese Straw Cookies
1 8oz. block sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Shred cheese with a box grater.
In a large bowl, use a mixer to blend butter and cheese until smooth. Add the salt, garlic powder, and cayenne and mix to combine. Gradually add the flour and mix well.
Use a 1 1/2 Tbs cookie scoop to scoop the dough and place on the parchment lined baking sheet 2 inches apart. Use a fork dipped in water to score top of dough balls.
Bake 30 minutes or until slightly browned. Cool 10 minutes then transfer cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely. Store in airtight container.
